Despite snowy weather conditions, around 25 buyers attended the Monkey Business Party at the tropical rainforest-themed venue, meeting representatives from some of Hong Kong's key conferencing hotels, local DMCs and airlines. Buyers socialised against a backdrop of swinging monkeys and waterfalls in the 'Forest Floor' room, enjoying Asian-style nibbles and cocktails, plus the chance to consult a palm reader or enjoy a massage. To promote networking, buyers were encouraged to take part in a competition, collecting Hong-Kong related gifts from suppliers, for a chance to win a week-long trip to Hong Kong. "We wanted guests to chat to as many of the suppliers as possible," explained HKTB manager for conventions, exhibitions and corporate events Sharon Wood. Winners included account director for Pembury Leisure Fiona Thomas, who was impressed by the range of contacts present at the event. "It was a rare opportunity to meet all my suppliers on one night," she said. "It was easy to learn a lot more about Hong Kong and to get updated." Co-winner Zak Newton, sales manager for Olive 360deg, found the event equally informative: "I was interested to hear that HKTB can organise three-and-a-half day itineraries, as well as longer trips. I've relayed that back to our operations team."
