IN PERSON: Alastair Stewart - Managing director, Initial Style Conferences

In 1986 two former army officers won a contract with IBM to operate the IT behemoth's training venue. Warbrook House in Hampshire was created and Alastair Stewart, fresh from completing a degree in catering and hotel management and with just two years' management experience at a London hotel, was appointed as the venue manager.
