IN PERSON: Hamish Reid, Chair, BACD

If life had turned out differently for Hamish Reid, newly appointed chair of the BACD, he might have found himself being profiled not here, but in The Publican. "When I was 18 I got it into my head that I wanted to run a pub - then someone told me I'd have to work evenings and weekends and it didn't seem quite so much fun," he recalls. He went on instead to a career in banqueting at a number of venues, before taking up his present position at the Jersey Conference Bureau, one of the BACD's 83 members.
