What kind of events do you work on?
Primarily healthcare meetings, but my previous experience is in MICE and weddings.
What's been the highlight of your career so far?
A couples incentive to Antigua - it was an incredible event in an amazing hotel learning so many different things about the culture. The opportunity to go to destinations like this is a great part of this job.
What's the most important lesson you've learned?
That you can work for an agency which takes work/ life balance seriously and really values their staff.
Also to be confident and stay calm - everything seems resolvable with a calm attitude.
Do agencies do enough to develop young talent?
It's easy to underestimate young talent and we need to listen to their ideas and views – the world is rapidly changing and the more perspectives, the better.
I've been very lucky in that I've received a lot of travel opportunities allowing me to get a wide variety of experience at a junior level. Being thrown in at the deep end isn't always the worst thing as long as you have the right managerial support.
What needs to change in the events industry?
The strictness of compliance in the healthcare industry. Of course, I understand the reasoning for it and the necessity of it, but in an ideal world it would be great to bring some of the creativity from other industries across.
What song would you walk on stage to at a big event?
Independent Women by Destiny 's Child.
