Industry support line launched by Stress Matters

Help by phone and Whatsapp is available to event professionals who would like to talk to a trained mental health first aider.

A free support line for the events industry has been launched today by Stress Matters, to give everyone access to trained Mental Health First Aiders (MHFA). It also offers practical support, information and guidance on other services.

The Stress Matters Support Line is open now, from 8am to 8pm. To access it, text 07481 362111 and a trained MHFA will respond. The service will also be available on WhatsApp from Monday 30 March.

“Everyone in our industry is being affected [by current events] and this is causing a high level of anxiety,” said Laura Capell-Abra, founder of Stress Matters.

“We are seeing a large increase in the numbers of people applying to be a Buddy on our Buddies Matter programme but we were also conscious that there are lots of people who will need more qualified mental health support.

“At the moment the support line is manned by MHFA volunteers but we are appealing to the industry for funding to enable us to extend this crucial service to a 24/7 helpline accessible through all communication methods.”

Buddies Matter is a service that creates buddies across the events industry that can offer support and an ear to listen – it does not offer professional help. You can find out more about becoming a buddy here
