12 brand new US hotels opening in 2020

From festival-chic Coachella to foodie-heaven Chicago, Visit The USA picked out the 12 most exciting places to stay next year.

1. Hotel Indigo, Coachella, California

In early 2020 Hotel Indigo will be the first hotel to open in Coachella, the home of the eponymous festival. Part of the Intercontinental Hotel Group, the hotel will house a spa, health club and yoga studio and 244 bohemian-style rooms. 

The 930 sqm pool will feature a catwalk and DJ stage, and the hotel’s 'Playground' will host music performances, art exhibitions and other events. 

2. Aman New York City, New York

Aman New York (pictured below) will be located in the historic Crown Building on the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street in Manhattan. 

It will have 83 rooms and suites and 22 private Aman Residences on the upper floors. The signature Aman Spa that will occupy three storeys. 

The hotel will also house a subterranean Jazz Bar, Italian and Japanese restaurants and wraparound garden terrace overlooking Central Park.

3. Kimpton Pittman, Deep Ellum, Dallas, Texas

In mid-2020 Kimpton Pittman will open in the trendy Deep Ellum district of Dallas.

The hotel will occupy the building of the historic Knights of Pythias Temple, which was designed in 1916 by William Sidney Pittman. There’ll be 164 guest rooms, restaurants, bars, lounges, a fitness area and a pool. 

The design will retain the original Beaux-Arts structure of the fourth-floor ballroom where celebrated blues musicians including "Blind Lemon" Jefferson, Robert Johnson and "Lead Belly" Ledbetter once performed. 

4. River House at Odettes, New Hope, Pennsylvania

Spring 2020 will see the opening of River House at Odette’s in New Hope, a small town in eastern Pennsylvania – halfway between Philadelphia and New York. 

The hotel will have 36 rooms and suites, and a vintage vibe to pay homage to its predecessor, Chez Odette’s, an iconic French restaurant and cabaret. It will also feature a piano bar, Art Deco-inspired rooftop bar and lounge and restaurant. 

5. Four Seasons Napa Valley, California

In Summer 2020 Four Seasons (pictured below) will open in one of the world’s most exclusive wine regions just outside Calistoga, the laid-back sister of Napa.

The grape-to-glass retreat, with 85 rooms, will have an onsite fully operational and organically hand-farmed 5.6-acre vineyard and winery operated by award-winning winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown.

Guests will have the chance to get involved in the winemaking, along with guided tours and tastings in the vineyard. 

6. Under Canvas, Tuolumne County, California

Under Canvas, which specialises in luxurious safari-style accommodation in America’s national parks, is set to open Yosemite’s first glamping accommodation. 

It is a 2.5-hour drive east of the San Francisco Bay area and 20 minutes from the entrance of Yosemite National Park. The 'glampground' is set among sequoia trees and meadows. With 90 safari-style tents and tented lounges, it’s the ideal basecamp for those keen to explore Glacier Point, Half Dome, and El Capitan.

7. Virgin Hotels Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville will be one of three new US openings from Virgin Hotels next year – with Las Vegas and New York also planned for 2020. 

Virgin Hotels Nashville will feature 240 rooms, food and beverage outlets and the brand’s signature ‘Commons Club’. 

8. Mauna Lani, Hawaii

In January 2020 will see the opening of Mauna Lani, an Auberge Collection property. This resort is set in tropical gardens and has a beachfront location on the Kona Coast of Hawaii’s Big Island. 

The hotel will have more than 300 rooms, five restaurants and bars – including a surf shack and cocktail terraces – three pools and a signature spa.

9. The Lake House on Canandaigua, Finger Lakes, New York

Opening in August 2020 in the Finger Lakes region of New York State, the Lake House on Canandaigua is a family-run property with 125 rooms, a world-class spa and boat dock.

The property will make a relaxing retreat for exploring Rochester, Syracuse or the Niagara Falls. 

10. Pendry West Hollywood, California

The Pendry West Hollywood, opening in April 2020, is located at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Olive Drive. 

The 159-room hotel will have a private membership club, rooftop pool and bar, live entertainment venue, screening room, bowling alley, curated art collection and Spa Pendry. 

World-renowned LA chef, Wolfgang Puck, will open multiple food and beverage outlets in the hotel. 

11. Nobu Chicago, Illinois

In early 2020, Nobu Chicago will open in the West Loop neighbourhood. 115 rooms and suites will blend traditional Japanese influences with modern design, including custom art pieces by Dutch artist Noor van Spaendonck. 

The hotel will feature a huge signature Nobu restaurant, a relaxed sushi bar, an indoor and outdoor rooftop bar and a lantern-lit indoor tranquillity pool.

12. Six Senses New York City, New York

Also opening in early 2020, Six Senses New York is the company’s first North American property. It will be located in The XI – two twisting towers designed by Danish architect Bjarke Ingels which are set between the Hudson River and the High Line.

The hotel will have 137 rooms, two restaurants and the Six Senses Spa. 

These hotels were originally chosen by Visit The USA.
