French theme park Puy du Fou, in western France near Nantes, has invested €52 million in a new convention centre and new hotel, as well as a new show for 2020.

The new convention centre, Le Théâtre Molière, comprising 3,500 square metres, has a 500-seat central auditorium, 11 meeting rooms of varying sizes and another large multi-purpose space.

The convention centre received €10 million of the overall investment at Puy du Fou.

A further €20 million was invested in the new four-star hotel, Le Grand Siècle. The hotel’s design is inspired by the royal residence at Marly which was used by friends and official visitors of Louis XIV, but which no longer exists. There are 500 rooms, including the baroque-style apartments of the Sun King.

Guests can also enjoy an on-site restaurant, La Table des Ambassadeurs, and three hectares of formal gardens.

Unlike most theme parks, Puy du Fou’s entertainment offerings come in the form of shows, immersive experiences and period villages rather than rides.

Puy du Fou also signed its first contract in China where the country’s first Puy du Fou, at the foot of the Great Wall, will open in 2022.
