One to watch: Sardatur Holidays

Eyeing Italy for your next meeting, incentive or conference? For in-depth knowledge look no further than Sardatur, a UK-based specialist in Italian travel that is launching into the MICE market.

Meet Sardatur Holidays. Specialising in all things Italian and travel since 1987, the tour operator has now created an expert Meetings and Events division. Whether you wish to whisk guests away to a charming medieval castle in the verdant Tuscan hills for an ultra-luxe wellness retreat, explore Italy’s picturesque and little-known towns, or create memorable meetings and conferences for 20 to 10,000 delegates, Sardatur can help.

Why Sardatur?

Based in Richmond, Surrey, the boutique agency prides itself on offering first-hand, in-depth knowledge of Italy’s MICE offering, high-end products, competitive rates, attention to detail and a highly personalised service. Sardatur takes a 360-degree approach to event management providing everything from securing flights, hotels and venues to organising gala dinners, team building and exclusive once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Sardatur is also a preferred partner of British Airways and Avis.

One of the biggest challenges for those organising events in Italy is the language barrier. Sardatur has multilingual professionals to accommodate planners requirements and can arrange translation services where necessary. The agency will also provide on-site support for the duration of the event.

Key destinations

Sardatur focuses on an array of popular MICE destinations, with the key ones being Sardinia, The Lakes, Sicily, Neapolitan Riviera, Puglia, Tuscany and the Ligurian Riviera, as well as the major cities of Milan, Rome, Venice, Florence and Verona.

"After hosting Expo 2015, Milan has been refreshed and it is now a beautiful business city with an expanded MICE offering," says Francesca Mustaffi, head of meetings and events at Sardatur. "Rome is also very attractive with a huge selection of hotels and venues for large conferences. Florence and Venice offer a number of boutique hotels and niche experiences. Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast are great all year round and Palermo in Sicily has stunning hotels. Corporate planners tend to go to places they already know but there are some superb lesser-known areas that we can introduce them to. There are so many options for planners to choose."

Must-visit MICE resorts

Because Sardatur has been operating in Italy for more than 30 years, clients can benefit from highly competitive rates. Three of it’s best-selling properties are: Verdura Resort in Sicily, and Forte Village Resort and Chia Laguna in Sardinia.

The suave Verdura Resort from Rocco Forte Hotels has a 300-seat open air theatre, seven meeting rooms with terraces, four restaurants, 168 bedrooms, 29 suites and six villas, plus two championship golf courses and a sprawling thalasso spa.

Adored by A-Listers, the vast 120-acre Forte Village has received a £40m makeover and boasts 20 meeting spaces, a 1,000-capacity conference hall, 719 bedrooms, 67 suites and 13 villas, as well as extensive sports facilities.

Overlooking a lagoon on a hilltop sits the stylish Chia Laguna Sardinia with 425 bedrooms, a newly refurbished conference centre for up to 830 delegates and a dine-around programme available across its restaurants.
