First look: The Eastside Rooms in Birmingham to open in 2020

Opening spring next year, the new venue will house a 195-room hotel and large banqueting room.

The Eastside Rooms is a new conference and events venue, which will open its doors in Spring 2020.

Built as part of the ‘Eastside’ development of the city, the new venue is in Birmingham's ‘Knowledge Quarter’ and sits alongside the city’s universities.

This area also houses science, research and educational facilities – part of a city-wide strategy to build a 'knowledge economy'. It is within walking distance of Birmingham City Centre, the city’s canal network and the historic area made famous by the TV series Peaky Blinders.

Aloft Hotel is a 195-room on-site hotel with a mixture of standard and luxury suites. There is also an on-site pub, which has been carefully restored from one of the city’s oldest public houses.

The Affinity Suite is the main space within the Eastside Rooms, and will be the city’s largest pillar-free banqueting room, able to seat up to 1,200 delegates. The Affinity Suite is surrounded by over 800 square metres of plenary, breakout, meetings, and events space on floors one and two of the venue, including the Belmont Suite, which can host 400 delegates.

Matt Huddart, regional general manager at The Eastside Rooms, said: "The Eastside Rooms couldn’t be coming to Birmingham at a better time. There is so much momentum in the city right now, and so much going on with the creation of the Knowledge Quarter and the increase in transport links.

"This part of Birmingham has an amazing heritage that will be woven into the design of the hotel, but it also has a great future that we’re delighted to be a part of."

The venue has easy access to Birmingham’s two main train stations and its national and international airports.
