C&IT held its second International Forum at the newly opened Pestana Plaza Mayor in Madrid, inviting event planners on the agency and corporate side for two days of insightful talks and Spanish hospitality.

After arrival in Madrid and check in at the hotel, delegates were split into teams and given an iPad for an interactive walking tour of Madrid.

There was a competitive element to the tour, as teams had to complete tasks or answer questions on the walk as they headed to certain points on the map.

The tour’s final destination was Platea, a huge dinner and entertainment venue where everyone got the chance to rest their feet and enjoy some tapas.

Day two began with a discussion panel on the impact of over-tourism and what the MICE industry can do to counteract its negative effects. On the panel were Kuba Piotrowski from Oriflame Cosmetics, Marilyn Levi from the Corporate Entertainment Consultancy and Sara Maté from Last Word Media.

After a day of talks, panel debates and meetings with suppliers, delegates were given a few hours off before dinner at Ramses Restaurant in the heart of the Spanish capital, complete with a live band to accompany a pre-dinner glass of Rioja.
