Odeon Luxe Leicester Square set to re-open following multi-million pound upgrade

Grand refurbishment of London venue with bar and seating for 800 hopes to recapture 'golden age of cinema'.

London’s Odeon Luxe Leicester Square has been refurbished to host film premieres in a multi-million pound redesign of a screening venue with 800 luxury seats.

The venue will have a new ornate interior with restored heritage features and new glass-fronted Oscar’s cocktail bar.

The cinema first opened in 1937 and will reopen in December. It has hosted more than 700 film premieres over the past 80 years. 

Mark Way, managing director of the Odeon Cinemas Group, said: "Our stunning Luxe refurbishment takes this prestigious reputation to the next level, reinventing one of the most iconic cinemas in the world.

"With the combination of Luxe recliners and Dolby Cinema, no other cinema will offer this level of luxury and technology. 

The opulent new Oscar’s Bar was named after Odeon founder Oscar Deutsch and will serve an extensive range of drinks, including champagne and cocktails, and offer guests views across Leicester Square from the bespoke new glass enclosed balcony.
