The airline will be flying between Cairns and six Asian cities with UK connections - Singapore, Hong Kong, Taipei, Osaka, Nagoya and Fukuoka.
Cairns Convention Centre director of sales and marketing Rochelle Kempton said the airline increases the possibilities of dual-destination incentives and pre- and post-conference tours.
"It will increase our accessibility for the UK market, she said. "The UK is a primary target for Cairns, especially as the average attendance of UK delegates to our centre has been 11.6% over the past 12 months."
Australian Tourist Commission (ATC) manager, business tourism, Europe, Sheila Ainscough added that the launch of Australian Airlines was a positive move and would give the destination more flexibility, as well as competitive prices.
The Cairns Region Convention Bureau is currently coordinating a fam programme for UK meeting planners and corporate buyers with the ATC, in conjunction with Dreamtime 2002 this September.
