Mammoths wins three-year contract with National Education Union

Largest education union in the UK has 500,000 members and inaugural conference will be attended by 1,700 delegates.

Manchester-based agency the Mammoths (formerly Mammoth Events) have secured a three-year contract to produce the National Education Union (NEU) Conference. Next year’s will take place at ACC, Liverpool from 15-18 April 2019.

The NEU was formed in 2017 by the amalgamation of the National Union of Teachers and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers and represents school teachers, further education lecturers, education support staff and teaching assistants.

With over 500,000 members, it’s the largest education union in the UK and it’s estimated that the inaugural conference will be attended by over 1,700 delegates.

Mammoths’ managing director George Thompson, said: "When we established the business in 2012, the National Union of Teachers was one of our first big wins. To have continued to hold such a prestigious account for six years and now be reappointed following the merger says everything about the relationships we build."

The agency has no full-time employees other than its two directors who both work remotely. Turnover for year six stood at £754,823 with profits of £70,212. Thompson’s fellow director Amanda Gilmour stated: "Turnover for the last three years has been consistent and new clients have come to us purely by word of mouth. Growth isn’t something we put a huge focus on, but the way we’re structured means we don’t have to; rather we invest our time in delivering projects that really excite us such as the NEU Conference."

Mammoths’ client list includes Universal Pictures, BAE Systems, The Fragrance Foundation and Lyreco.
