Yokohama has been chosen to host two major international conferences in the fields of science and mechanics.

The city will welcome the Nuclear Science Symposium and Medical Imaging Conference (IEEE NSS-MIC) in 2021 and the 15th World Congress on Computational Mechanics (WCCM) in 2022. It will be the first time the IEEE NSS-MIC has been to Japan.

Both conferences will be held at the new Pacifico Yokohama North facility.

The IEEE NSS-MIC is a joint conference that encompasses the two fields of nuclear science and medical imaging. The host organisation is the 186th Committee on Radiation Science and its Applications, a division of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.

The organisers of the WCCM expect 3,500 researchers and experts in the fields of computational engineering and mechanics, 2,000 of which will come from abroad. Around 2,000 participants are expected at the IEEE NSS-MIC.
