British Elbow and Shoulder Society Annual Meeting set for 2023 at ICC Wales

Newport in South Wales is set to host 700 shoulder and elbow surgery experts at the four-day annual conference.

The International Convention Centre Wales is to host the 2023 British Elbow and Shoulder Society Annual Meeting for 2023, it has been announced.

Around 700 delegates will attend the four-day annual conference at the new venue which opens in 2019.

The BESS annual conference brings together the great and the good of shoulder and elbow surgery to investigate, educate and highlight new research.

BESS conference organiser Jai Mistry said: "The BESS annual conference is key to the aims and objectives of BESS and an important focal point for our members. Hosting the meeting at a brand new, state-of-the-art venue like ICC Wales will be incredibly exciting and provides an extra stimulus for members to get involved.

"We were impressed with the enthusiasm shown by the team in persuading us to come to South Wales and look forward to a productive and unique event amongst the inspiring surroundings of Coldra Woods."

Bess aims to promote innovation in teaching, learning and research and to develop and advance education in shoulder and elbow surgery.

ICC Wales CEO Ian Edwards said: "By the time ICC Wales opens its doors in 2019, we expect to have an enviable range of events on our books and congratulate BESS on being among the first of many to confirm."

The new venue is a £84m joint venture between Celtic Manor Resort and Welsh Government and will accommodate up to 5,000 delegates.

It includes a 4,000sqm pillar-free main hall, a 1,500-seated auditorium, 12 flexible meeting rooms, a double-height glass atrium and a 2,500 sqm outdoor plaza.
