'I've seen the industry from agency, venue and association points of view'

A-List 2018 profile: Elena Clowes, 25 is a project manager at Unicorn Events.

What kind of events do you work on?

Product launches, conferences, team building, awards and incentives.

What is your motto for success?

Be nice to everyone – sometimes that’s overlooked, especially in the service industry. Also, always be honest with clients.

What's been the highlight of your career so far?

When I took my job at ILEA (the International Live Events Association) as an operations manager I got to meet so many amazing people that I might not have got to work with otherwise. Everyone who works there is a volunteer.

What do you hope to achieve before you're 40?

I’d love to work in more areas of the industry. I’ve seen it from agency, venue and association points of view but it would be great to see more aspects of it.

What would be your dream event to work on?

A Dolce & Gabbana show. I love all the unusual fashion shows, like when they had the rocket in Paris and when Tommy Hilfiger had models walk on a racetrack.

If you could pick anyone to be your keynote speaker, who would it be?

Tupac – when you read his interviews he always has a different perspective on topics. I like listening to someone who challenges you.

What would you be doing if you weren't working in events?

Either an air hostess or an equine vet.
