The fifth Event Photography Awards competition has opened in a renewed push to champion the importance of photography to the events industry.

It’s hoped that the awards will recognise pictures that have been instrumental in promoting the event industry as a whole, as well as amplifying its products.

Philip Atkins, EPA founder and MD, Off To Work said: "The events industry sells itself through photography, while great photos amplify the impact and thereby the validity of events.

Highly Commended, Corinne Cumming - Backflip

"As such, it’s important that we celebrate the wonderful work of the photographers that capture the energy and essence of events, as well as the venues where they are held and the food that’s served at them, hence this year’s exciting new categories."

For the first time, the overall winner will receive a cash prize of £1,000.

Categories include

  • Corporate
  • Cultural
  • Experiential
  • Music
  • Private
  • Sporting events,
  • Trade shows
  • Weddings
  • Behind the Scenes
  • Peoples’ choice
  • Venues
  • Food

The ‘Peoples’ choice’ award is judged by attendees at the awards event, which will be held at The British Museum on 3 May 2018.

Paul Clarke, 2014 Overall Winner said: "Being an EPA winner made a huge difference to my profile and success as an event photographer. It's great to see such a celebration of the visual side of the events industry."

Winner, Luis Tate - Spanish Festival Of Fire and Horses

The Event Photography Awards is supporting the charities Meeting Needs and PhotoVoice (an award-winning charity that helps enables good causes and under-represented communities amplify their message).

The awards are open to professional and amateur photographers, with separate awards in each category. Enter via the new website www.eventphotographyawards.com.
