Objectives

Member companies of the International Partnership for Premiums and Gifts (IPPAG) take it in turns to host the co-operative’s summer meeting. In 2017, it was the turn of the British member, Lesmar.

Digital disruption, consolidation and changing consumer behaviour are all affecting the promotional products market – these were all to be discussed and solutions debated.

Some 25 of the 31 IPPAG members travelled to England for a programme that would begin with a dinner on Tuesday 19 September and include workshops, and seminars. A supporting itinerary of evening activity and networking was also required.

Solution

During a sales session on the first day, participants discussed how the transition from merely selling products to providing solutions can be successfully achieved. This included new marketing strategies and the adaption of contemporary technologies.

Speakers during the week included Charles Cuny and François Huet from the French ImmaTerra Institute. New IPPAG members from China, the Netherlands, Poland and Romania were also introduced.

Highlights of the supporting programme included a karaoke evening accompanied by a live band in the local pub, as well as the official dinner on the last evening, which saw members dress up in 1920s style.

Verdict

Andy Ducksbury, sales & commercial director at Lesmar, said: "Finding a suitable venue for week-long meetings for 70 of my global partners was a daunting task.

"I had spent three months identifying and visiting venues before getting Venues and Events International involved. Within three weeks they had found me the perfect location and nailed down an extensive meeting and activities schedule.

"The venue selection was perfect, on budget and the entire event was a huge success, with many partners telling me it was the best meeting we have ever had. The work carried out by Katie Venner was a massive contributing factor to this success."
