
On a rainy day in the M by Montcalm hotel in London Tech City (also known as Old Street/Shoreditch), associations from around the world gathered for a one-day workshop organised by The Oysters.
Event Model Generation co-founders, Ruud Janssen and Roel Frissen, held an interactive session called ‘Redefining Your Strategic Approach: Design Thinking for Association Events’.
The aim of the session was to teach us how to use the ‘EventCanvas’ model when designing our own events and for participants to gain the equivalent of the EDC Event Design Certificate Programme level 1.
Taking the example of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics opening ceremony, attendees started out by working out who the most important stakeholders are and what they would need to achieve for those stakeholders to consider it a successful event.
After a day of learning came to a close, there was a chance to network and have a drink in the hotel’s bar.
