A giant model of the famous Hadrian’s Wall is now available as the backdrop for dinners and events at the Great North Museum: Hancock in Newcastle.

The venue is now taking bookings for corporate dinners and events in its Hadrian’s Wall Gallery, which features a 1:4700 scale model of the 73-mile wall.

Parties of up to 100 can enjoy drinks and canapés in the adjoining Living Planet Gallery, where guests can get up close and personal with exhibits including an elephant and a great white shark, before moving into the Hadrian’s Wall Gallery for dinner.

Larger parties of up to 220 guests can use both the Hadrian’s Wall and Living Planet galleries, and there is also a larger exhibition area which can hold up to 443 people.

"By choosing to host an event here, clients can be sure their guests will be very well looked after and enjoy a night to remember in an unforgettable venue surrounded by unique exhibits," said Joanne Everett, events co-ordinator at Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, which manages catering and events at the museum.

The model forms part of an interactive gallery which gives visitors the chance to discover the history of the famous wall, built to serve as the northern frontier of the mighty Roman Empire.
