Beckie Hyson, director of The Events Racoon started her career as a conference consultant, with her most recent role as events development manager with Capita Travel and Events.

She set up the agency a year ago after three months travelling and the agency achieved a turnover of £250,000 in its first year.

Hyson said: "It’s been an amazing first year and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Making the decision to go out on my own was a daunting one at the time, but looking back at the year we’ve had and with what’s planned for the next two, it’s a decision I’m delighted with."

Jayne Matwiejczyk, head of business support at WRc plc said: "We worked with The Events Raccoon for the first time this year on our Innovation Day 2017. From the word go, Beckie and her team were professional, friendly and very easy to deal with. Everything went smoothly, resulting in a brilliant 2017 event!"
