Venue-finding website Hire Space hosted its inaugural awards ceremony on Tuesday (24 October) at Landing Forty Two at the top of the Leadenhall Building in London.

Comedian Hugh Dennis, of BBC show Mock the Week and Radio 4’s The Now Show, hosted the cermony, which was attended by 220 leading event industry professionals.

Taking place on the last night of EventLAB 2017, Hirespace’s two-day event for professional event organisers, the new awards ceremony celebrated innovation and quality of service in the events industry, at London’s highest dedicated event space.

Hire Space co-founder and COO Edward Poland said: "The Hire Space Awards celebrate the very best of the events industry by recognising and rewarding hard working, innovative and forward-thinking venues and event bookers from across the UK. The winners represent the best of the UK events industry."

Catering was provided by Landing Forty Two’s in-house caterer, Moving Venue. Guests were served gin-cured scorched salmon, spiced buttermilk, seaweed and carrot salad with a ginger and dashi sauce followed by treacle marinated fillet of beef with short rib bonbon, buttered baby carrot, bulgar wheat and king oyster mushroom with a tawny port reduction and to finish blackberry compote on vanilla sponge cassis mousse and warm chocolate madeleines.

Live music and entertainment came from Sternberg Clarke’s alternative string trio Ember, who performed unique arrangements of current chart hits.

Hire Space received over 250 entries from across the industry, for awards categories such as Modern Venue Marketing, Modern Venue Sales, Most Popular, Forward Thinking Venues, Event Organisers and Unsung Hero.
