Objectives

Normally renowned for its trucks and buses, MAN has now entered the global van sector with its TGE. For the UK launch of this right-hand drive vehicle, MAN needed a venue that would allow its dealer network, staff, press and invited customers to test drive the new van and explore its many features.

Solution

Venues and Events International was called upon to manage all the delegate and crew logistics over a four-day event that saw press arrive on the Tuesday, dealers test-drive the TGE on the Wednesday, customers invited for the Thursday and staff on the Friday. All guests were accommodated overnight and were treated to dinner and entertainment hosted by the Holiday Inn Corby.

On the Rockingham race track, MAN was able to use the highspeed oval, as well as the inner handling circuit for extended testing.

On arrival, guests were split into three different groups. They were treated to a 90-minute ride & drive, experienced manoeuvring and reversing for another 90 minutes, and were then able to visit a specially designed Expo, displaying various van components and a virtual reality area.

500 test-drives were carried out over the period of the event, with excellent feedback on the product, its ride, handling and build quality.

Verdict

Martin Pickering, marketing communications manager, MAN Truck & Bus UK said: "Venues and Events International’s co-ordination of all the hotel bookings and logistics for both guests and a 45-strong crew for the entire week, was superb and key to the success of the whole event.

"They made sure that everyone had a great experience on the day and went away with positive impressions of both the MAN TGE, us as a company and the event itself. Venues and Events International did a fantastic job and a special mention needs to go to Holly Vallerius and her team who managed the project superbly."
