NITB unveils its three-year plan to grow income

The Northern Ireland Tourist Board (NITB) has set out its corporate plan for the next three years, with a view to attracting more business into the region.

The main aim is to increase visitor numbers to the country by 7% per annum and visitor spend by 9%. The plan highlights the importance of a new marketing strategy to boost business within niche markets such as the meetings sector. Details of the activity are still to be decided.

Recent figures released by the Belfast Visitor & Convention Bureau show that business tourism represents 41% of the total number of overnight visitors and 38% of the overall spend in Northern Ireland's capital city.
