IMEX Group and the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) have both issued statements in the wake of Sunday’s tragic shooting in Las Vegas.

A statement by Ray Bloom, chairman and Carina Bauer, CEO IMEX Group

"Both IMEX America and the Sands have very strong security in place, with both visible and plain clothes security teams in the venue and at the tradeshow.

"Over the coming days we will be working closely with the Sands, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and the Las Vegas authorities to assess any additional security measures that are needed at this time. We will take their full advice in ensuring the best possible security and safety of our guests.

"We will send you further information as it becomes available.

"In the meantime, if you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to contact us and we are very much looking forward to welcoming the industry to IMEX America next week."

A statement by Kevin Hinton, CEO of SITE, on behalf of the international board of directors and foundation trustees

"Our thoughts are with Las Vegas, especially those families impacted directly and our SITE members in the community. As the city recovers from a tragic attack, we are holding our members and friends close and look forward to arriving in Las Vegas for IMEX America to offer hugs and words of support.

"IMEX Group is a valued and long-term strategic partner of SITE, and we are in close communications with the IMEX America team.

"All of our events next week are going ahead as planned. For each event we are working with the host venues on enhanced security to ensure that attendee safety is a top priority and we will continue to communicate with our members and registered attendees about security measures that will be in place.

"On behalf of the SITE international board of directors, SITE foundation trustees and all members of our global incentive travel community, we look forward to seeing you next week in Las Vegas."
