One of the capital’s most hotly anticipated launches for 2017 unlocked its doors for the first time for its official opening party on 26 April. Situated in London’s former Midland Bank building in the City next to Bank Station, The Ned is the offspring of a partnership between London-based Soho House & Co and New York’s Sydell Group.

Four of the best... London venues to look out for in 2017

Mention The Ned to any event planner, and you’ll likely be greeted with excitement. Its fully restored fifth floor offers six Grade I-listed meeting rooms – each one boasting period features including walnut panelling and vintage chandeliers, as well as ample domed windows to allow in plenty of natural light – and two outdoor terraces.

Rooms range in size from 21m2 to 165m2, and can accommodate between four and 200 people. C&IT will be hosting one of the first events – our 2017 A-List launch party – at The Ned tomorrow night (3 May).

The hotel’s 252 rooms are modelled on 1920s’ and 1930s’ design, with vintage ornaments, brass and mahogany furniture, and chandeliers for decoration. Eight public restaurants will serve cuisine originating from Britain to Italy and North America to Asia. This includes a new outpost for Cecconi’s, which has already has revered  properties in London’s Mayfair, Berlin, Miami Beach and West Hollywood.

Ned’s Club Upstairs is a panoramic rooftop space for members and hotel guests providing views to St Paul’s Cathedral and beyond with a heated swimming pool and two converted domes with outdoor terraces for eating and drinking. The Roof Bar with a retractable roof and heaters makes the most of the space all year round.

Members will also have exclusive access to The Vault bar and lounge, an all-hours cocktail bar hidden behind the 20-tonne, two-metre wide vault door in the original Midland Bank strongroom, lined with more than 3,000 safety deposit boxes.
