AccorHotels’ annual Global Meetings Exchange (GME) kicked off this week (16 March) at the Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I in Barcelona. More than 150 clients from across Europe, the Americas and Asia are in attendance, including a 45-strong contingent featuring event professionals from BP, PwC, Cisco, Informa and Capita Travel & Events.
The four-day event includes one-to-one business sessions between suppliers and buyers, and content sessions on topics including economic trends, meetings industry trends and personalisation.
Buyers also get to choose from a number of activities on Saturday afternoon including a cultural tour of Barcelona, a visit to Camp Nou, the home of Barcelona FC, wine tasting, sailing regatta or super cars.
Monday 13 March saw Unique Venues of London host an exhibition at the Science Museum to showcase a selection of different suppliers that work across its member venues.
The afternoon presented the opportunity for caterers, florists, event production and entertainment providers to engage with around 100 venue managers. Exhibitors included: The Admirable Crichton, Fizz, Food by Dish, Zafferano, Sound by Design, White Light, Wise Productions, Hayford & Rhodes, Lavender Green Flowers, Pinstripes & Peonies, Prelude Entertainment, Sternberg Clarke, Young Guns.
Further accredited suppliers joined a networking drinks reception in one of the Science Museum’s newest event spaces Wonderlab: The Statoil Gallery, where guests were able to enjoy a range of interactive exhibits including the infinity mirror and experience the friction slides.
Tobacco Dock’s co-working space The Dock welcomed more than 200 guests on Wednesday night (15 March) for its inaugural Humidor social night. The event was billed as a social club inviting event professionals to get together and network alongside food, drink and entertainment, which was provided by DJ Karuva on the night, with TBA chairman Guy Horner hosting the night.
Patrick Donovan, co-founder of The Dock said: "Our vision for Humidor was to bring together event professionals for a night of networking and entertainment, so it was fantastic to see so many people turn up to meet our guest host and make the most of the entertainment and delicious drinks. We expect Humidor to get even bigger and better each month."
