Energy and services provider ENGIE held an awards evening for high-performing staff, facilitated by Venues and Events International.

The event

ENGIE is one of the UK’s largest employers, with a total of 20,000 staff. To recognise employee achievements and make them feel special, ENGIE’s central engagement project manager, Alex Bruckshaw, called on Venues and Events International to stage an awards evening. The event was held on 19 January for 180 guests, so that the company could present trophies to around 80 achievers from its internal reward and recognition programmes during the past year. It was a chance for front-line staff to enjoy an evening of entertainment and recognition and an opportunity for board members to show employees their appreciation.

Solution

ENGIE front-line staff from the energy and services areas of the business arrived at Manchester Town Hall for a drinks reception, which included entertainment from two magicians. Guests were called into dinner in the Great Hall, which was decorated with candelabras and a moving ENGIE logo projected onto the walls.

Two speeches and two awards occurred before the starter course. A further two speeches and two more awards took place before the main course. The Innovation Award was handed out after dessert, while the final three awards, including Team of the Year, were presented after coffee had been served.

ENGIE’s UK chief executive, Wilfred Petrie delivered a closing speech before guests were invited to head next door where the jazz band, Snazzy Swing kept the party going until the bar closed at midnight.

Verdict

Speaking about the event, Bruckshaw, said: "I’m always confident that Venues and Events International will deliver an exceptional event in a venue that matches my brief and this was no different. Manchester Town Hall is a beautiful location and fitting for such a prestigious evening. The whole event ran seamlessly thanks to the onsite team. It was fantastic that the whole of the UK ENGIE Board were in attendance and could see what a fantastic events agency we have. Both staff and board members had a great night and the feedback has been superb."
