Having been operational in the city centre since 1880, first as a passenger rail station and then renovated in 1986 as a dedicated exhibition hall, the venue is celebrating its 10th anniversary since the event space and the new Manchester International Convention Centre combined to become Manchester Central. Throughout the year the venue will showcase highlights and milestones from the past decade.
Manchester Central has also marked 2017 with the launch of a new agency portal designed to give event planners updated access to venue-related information, including floorplans and images to capacities and other logistical information, to help make the pitching process more efficient.
"Creating this online portal has provided a one stop shop for agents’ pitching needs to ensure that they can share the relevant information about Manchester Central with their clients as quickly as possible," said Angie Robinson, CEO, Manchester Central.
Kristy Hogan, venues manager at agency Team Spirit added: " It can be a very time consuming process but with this tool, all of the relevant information is readily available; enabling us to access everything we need to effectively pitch the venue to our clients."
Facilities at the venue include the divisible Cobden Rooms and the 10,000 sqm pillarless Central Hall, can accommodate from 10 to more than 10,000 delegates.
The 23,000 sqm venue is located at the heart of the UK and the city, while Manchester International Airport, which serves more than 200 destinations worldwide, is only 20 minutes away.
