Paul Stoddart started the role of managing director on 3 Jan, reporting directly to Ian Cummings, whose role recently expanded to vice president, EMEA.

Stoddart, who joins the agency from Capita Travel and Events where he was director of meetings and events, will lead and direct all M&E business activity across the UK, Ireland and Benelux, providing leadership and strategic direction with a heavy focus on continuing the growth and progress CWT Meetings & Events has seen over the last few years.

This year has seen CWT make two senior appointments and report 12% global growth so far.

Commenting on Stoddart’s appointment Cummings said: "Paul is a strong leader with over 20 years M&E experience. After another strong year in 2016 with wins across many industry sectors, his broad experience is just what we need to keep our live events and SMM programmes ahead of the pack."

Stoddart added: "What attracted me to CWT Meetings & Events was its excellent reputation in the industry for managing large, high profile events seamlessly while ensuring the customer experience is always fresh and innovative. For a relatively young agency, CWT Meetings & Events is one of the top global names and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how far we can go in 2017 and beyond."

Before joining Capita Travel and Events, Stoddart held director roles at both Banks Sadler and Imagination.
