Kimpton De Witt Hotel (Netherlands)

Amsterdam is set to welcome InterContinental Hotel Group’s first Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants property outside North America in the spring.

The luxury hotel, which has been operating as Crowne Plaza Amsterdam City Centre, will launch following renovation work to provide 274 guest rooms, meeting spaces, a bar and restaurant and a gym.

The Apollo Hotel Amsterdam, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel (Netherlands)

A second launch in the Dutch city will see the Apollo Hotel Amsterdam join Tribute Portfolio, part of Marriott International, in April 2017 following major renovation of its bedrooms, restaurant and public areas.

Situated on the canal front in Amsterdam’s upscale Old-South (Oud-Zuid) district, the 223-room hotel features 606sqm of meeting and event space including five multi-functional rooms, along with several outdoor terraces and a private jetty.

Other facilities include a fitness centre, a spa and eating options including Harbour Club Kitchen, a fine dining experience in a waterfront setting, and The Marina Lounge and Terrace, a relaxing space serving small plates, refreshments and cocktails.

Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort (Portugal)

April is also scheduled to see the launch of Anantara’s first European hotel - in the Algarve in the south of Portugal. Parts of the 280-room resort, which has been operating as Tivoli Victoria, will receive a revamp ahead of the opening.

Offering spaces for all types of events, the property’s standalone conference centre can cater for up to 800 people across eight rooms. Other features will include restaurants, a champagne bar, swimming pools including an infinity pool, a gym and fitness centre with a personal trainer, and an Anantara spa offering a traditional Turkish hammam, yoga and tai-chi.

Activities available in the region include yachting, deep sea fishing and golf.

Barcelona EDITION (Spain)

Staying in the Iberian peninsula, the EDITION hotel brand plans to open its first property in Barcelona in 2017 after revamping an existing office building.

The 100-room luxury hotel in the city’s Ciutat Vella district, close to the Cathedral of Barcelona and adjacent to the Santa Caterina Market, will be within walking distance of the beach.

Features of the hotel will include three restaurant experiences, a club and a rooftop bar area.

The Alexander, a Luxury Collection Hotel (Armenia)

In another city debut, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide is due to launch its first property in the Armenian capital of Yerevan, close to the Republic Square, the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, the famous seven fountains and the National Art Gallery, in the summer.

The 114-room hotel will offer meeting and event spaces including a spacious ballroom, eight meeting rooms and a business centre.

During downtime, guests can make use of wellness facilities such as an indoor pool, spa and fitness centre, an all-day dining restaurant, a cigar club and a lobby bar.
