Case study: Telent family fun day and 10th anniversary

Telent Technology Services celebrated its ten year anniversary by rewarding employees' hard work with a family fun day at Alton Towers.

The networking technology company invited more than 1,100 employees and their families to enjoy full use of the Theme Park and a host of special family activities. A number of theme parks were approached regarding hosting the event and Alton Towers was chosen because it was the most accommodating and the best value for money.

Guests arrived at the Resort at 9.30am to collect their entrance tickets from telent staff stationed in a gazebo in the Welcome Plaza. After gaining entrance to the theme park, they were invited to the hospitality suite where they collected goodie bags, enjoyed face painting, entertainers and balloon modelling.

The employees and their families then had the day at leisure to enjoy the theme park's rides and attractions. CBeebies Land was particularly popular for the employees with younger children, a fun and interactive environment with themed rides and attractions, live entertainment and famous characters such as Postman Pat and Igglepiggle. There was a professional photographer on hand to take photographs of the day.

In order to welcome so many people from one group over a short period of time, registration on the day was made as easy and as quick as possible. The organisers were shown the Welcome Plaza in advance and discussed how the arrival of guests would work on the day to ensure the arrival process ran smoothly. Anything that was considered an obstacle was easily explained and accommodated by the Alton Towers Staff from the day they agreed to host the event.

"An excellent day was had by all employees, and many messages of thanks were received. Alton Towers Staff were very helpful and provided an excellent service both before the event and on the day," said Gerri Bilclough, office manager.
