Virgin Enterprises’ annual conference on 3 November saw 600 employees gather at The Mermaid in London. The venue was chosen as it is an accessible central London location with several transport routes which could be exclusively hired and completely rebranded.
The event was designed to change personal and professional attitudes with a series of compelling speakers, including Sir Richard Branson, in addition to interactive installations and opportunities to connect with like-minded people.
The conference was held in the Auditorium, Lower River Room, Upper River Room, Mezzanine, and Foyer The rooms were fully customised with a branded desk upon entrance, uplighting in brand colour throughout the venue, a stage set up with fake grass and an illuminated hanging orb for the picnic break out space. The reveal on stage was a key element and, using video mapping, a moon was mapped onto an inflatable orb to give the experience of a picnic under the moon and stars.
The catering selection was designed to challenge traditional corporate event catering. Grab and go breakfast options, sweet treats, fruit bowls, Square Pie Shop favourites, Louisiana Po Boy and a bespoke salad bar were all provided. Hessian cloths covered the tables for a rustic feel to the décor, with barista stations located around the venue for a relaxed feel.
Global head of brand & managing director of VEL said: "Feedback from Disruptors indicates that 90% of those attending 2016's sold out event would return for 2017 if given the option. It's success no doubt aided by the Mermaid's in-house time and well executed spaces within the venue. A fantastic day for Virgin, the speakers involved and those lucky enough to secure a ticket."
