Complete Qatar

Event professionals from around Europe landed in Doha, Qatar on Saturday evening for C&IT's four-day Complete Qatar familiarisation and educational trip, hosted in partnership with the Qatar Tourism Authority. The trip presented the group with a rich opportunity to sample the C&I highlights of the destination before meeting with local suppliers one-on-one.

Activities included a tour of the Qatar National Convention Centre's facilities and the Museum of Islamic Art, a desert safari and a trip to the local souq.

Events Are GREAT

Representatives from the tourism and travel industry met at Westminster Hall on Wednesday (2 November) for the Events are GREAT briefing. Updates from VisitBritain, the Events Industry Board and the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events were followed by a wine and canape reception, with a chance for guests to network with other professionals from the industry.

QEII Centre

The QEII Centre celebrated its 30th birthday in style this week, taking guests back on a journey to the 1980s, when it first opened. On arrival guests were welcomed into a dreamscape, complete with fluffy clouds and dry ice. A choice of three welcome cocktails helped decide which of three doorways they would enter through, taking them back to the 80s through music, fashion or film.

In the music room a festival stage awaited, with guitars, leather jackets and 80’s hairstyles for guests to transform themselves into rock gods. Guests taking the fashion pathway found glamourous floor-length fur coats, oversized sunglasses and Champagne flutes for the Ab Fab vibe. In the film room Darth Vader was waiting for ‘the Jedis in training’.
