This week saw 500 event planners gather for the C&IT Awards, more than 350 attend The O2 for BB Agency Olympics and NYC & Company launch its MICE roadshow.

More than 500 event professionals gathered for the annual C&IT Awards at The London Hilton on Park Lane last Friday night (23 September).

Glammed-up guests enjoyed a Champagne reception before a three-course dinner and entertainment, followed by the awards ceremony and a celebratory party with drinks and dancing.

Rapport stole the limelight, picking up four awards including the coveted Grand Prix for its ONE Astellas Live event. Meanwhile Smyle Group picked up the UK Agency of the Year Award while Avantgarde scooped the prize of Global Agency of the Year.

Agency Olympics

The second annual Agency Olympics took place on Wednesday night (28 September) at Brooklyn Bowl at the O2 in London.

More than 350 people attended this year’s event, including representatives from AddingValue, Appointment Group, BCD, Bluehat, Chillisauce, Clive, Concerto Group, Cornucopia, CWT, Design My Night, Freeman XP, Hire Space, RPM, Smoozy, Story Events, TBA, TRO, Vista, Wedgewood and Wonder Events.

Guests competed in four different events including bowling, a chicken wing eating contest, tug-o-war and rockaoke.

NYC & Company

NYC & Company, New York City’s official destination marketing organisation, kicked off its 2016 European MICE Road Show this week. Visiting the leading business centres of Leeds, London, Copenhagen and Munich from 26 to 29 September, members of the team showcased New York’s offerings as a leading global meetings destination to European buyers.

"New York City offers unmatched meetings experiences, from world-class hotels to one-of-a-kind venues," said Jerry Cito, NYC & Company’s senior vice president of convention development. "With over six million delegates choosing to ‘Make it NYC’ each year, NYC & Company is pleased to be in Europe to meet face-to-face with some of the continent’s leading meetings professionals."

The London event took place at Buddha-Bar in Knightsbridge on Tuesday night.
