Case study: Intrinsic's corporate sports day

Agency Venues and Events International held an Olympics-themed event for financial services company Intrinsic in July.

Objective

A total of 288 staff came together in either one of two events, staged a week apart, close to the two main UK corporate offices. The objective was to bring everyone up-to-date with the latest corporate messaging, targets and objectives, hear from the key company directors and participate in a fun afternoon’s Olympic-inspired sports day, in order to bond with colleagues and celebrate success.

Solution

Intrinsic employees arrived at their respective venues by coach, wearing fancy-dress according to the different country teams they’d been allocated. Delegates gathered to hear from Intrinsic directors and were given presentations on company performance, the impact of Brexit and targets for the year ahead. Following some employee recognition awards, delegates were treated to an afternoon sports day, which saw them compete in activities ranging from three-legged racing to sack races, and egg and spoon relays. Delegates also enjoyed a range of sports including softball, tennis, archery and football, before coming together with an evening barbeque.

Verdict

Tammy Page, Intrinsic’s head of events, said: "Venues and Events International has always looked after our venue-finding requirements for training and academy days but this was the first time we’d used them for planning and onsite event management and logistics. All went according to the plan and it was great to see how much everyone embraced the fancy-dress and got stuck into the competition. It helped that we had sunshine for both days and I’d like to thank Zing for its role in staging the sports-day activities. It was a resounding success and I’d definitely use Venues and Events International again in the future. "
