"The acquistion with Blackhawk [which was announced on 1 September] benefits us globally, as we have joined forces with a multi-national leader with a huge digital footprint, which is managing billions in spend every year. They are looking to invest not just in Grass Roots but specifically in Grass Roots Meetings & Events. As a result we will be looking to expand our activities in meetings consolidation and large event activation, across the world."
"The UK office is already a leader in both these areas, but following the merger we plan to use the digital footprint and global breadth of Blackhawk to expand these services in Europe, North America and Asia. They’re a huge business and they are looking to expand and invest in our meetings and events proposition."
Implementation of strategy
"We’ve been working on our go-to-market strategy for six months, and in talks with Blackhawk for over a year. Grass Roots M&E is regarded as a specialist in meetings management consolidation already, as well as being a leader in events for financial services. The merger will allow us to take this to a new level, particularly in other regions."
New jobs and offices
"We’re always on the lookout for new talent and the meetings & events teams are likely to grow, particularly in North America, which will be the biggest and fastest area of expansion for us. We are operating as a subsidiary of Blackhawk, so there’s been no changes to any roles within the organisation- everyone is keeping their current jobs and titles for now. There may be new offices in the pipeline, but nothing is confirmed yet."
"The acquisition wasn’t affected by Brexit at all because Blackhawk has been looking to expand into Europe for some time and Grass Roots has always been an attractive proposition. The business is looking for long-term growth not short-term. We have a very successful business in the UK, but clients are no longer looking to buy in one market, they want to buy globally. This is what the acquisition can achieve."
