The event was held to celebrate the hotel group's association with Brazil, where it has 15 hotels currently. A wide selection of meetings and events' clients including representatives from Amex, CWT, Banks Sadler and George P Johnson joined in the event, which featured a special interactive Olympic game provided by Wildgoose Events.

Guests were invited to join Melia representatives, including Neill Hendry and Roger Bradley, for a Brazilian BBQ, music and Olympic coverage. They also got the chance to test out their Melia and Olympic knowledge in a quiz, where teams were asked to undertake photo, video and Olympic challenges. The winners were presented with their Olympic medals and prizes which included stays in Melia Hotels in the UK and Spain.
