Smyle

More than 120 supplier and freelancers gathered for Smyle’s annual summer drinks party last night (11 August) at The Magic Roundabout at Old Street station. Guests enjoyed a night of drinks in the venue’s beach area, which had been sectioned off for the private event.

Managing director Rick Stainton said it was an opportunity for an informal get to together, to thank friends of Smyle for their hard work and partnership throughout the year.

The Brewery

Central London venue The Brewery hosted a series of menu tastings this week, offering event planners an insight into the culinary creations their delegates can expect this year.

Around 50 event professionals attended the tasting, which took place on the venue’s summer terrace. To celebrate the Olympics, the area has transported the colours and themes of Rio de Janeiro to east London. On the menu were cheese and ham cigars, a tempura taco filled with fresh salmon and a help-yourself dessert buffet to finish.

Ashfield Meetings & Events

Ashfield Meetings & Events ran its annual supplier networking and education event The Lab on Thursday (11 August) at Holywell Park in Loughborough.

The Lab, now in its fourth year, is an interactive event for UK staff to deliver professional development and build supplier partnerships designed to complement the agency’s learning and development programme.

This year the event attracted more than 250 attendees and ran all day, giving staff the opportunity to learn through a combination of sharing best practice, facilitated workshops, campfire sessions, external speakers and exhibit environments.
