Technology knowledge

Corinne Tatham, agency sales manager at Bluehat Group

"I enjoyed the networking opportunities, as well as the one-to-one meetings. Forum was an opportunity for me to explore new venues, such as the Painted Hall last night. It’s great when you get that wow factor because it reminds you why you’re in events.  The technology session was really helpful for me. I think the future of technology is absolutely crucial and we need to better understand how we use it to bring real value to our events and integrate it into the objectives."

Brexit updates

Marco Oelschlegel, senior marketing manager at Berlin Convention Office,

"There’s lots of facets to the event which means you get the chance to mix, have meetings, network and attend educational sessions. I’ve found it interesting to get people’s opinions on Brexit and security issues. A lot of people in the industry have really strong opinions on how the UK will be affected and I think it’s something the meetings industry will need to pay attention to in the months to come. I also attended the security session and it was interesting for me to see how DMCs are handling the international terror threat."

IP and ideas protection

Russell Allen, owner of Crescendo

"My take away from the forum is new contacts and fresh ideas. I found the session on ‘protecting IP while protecting your relationship’ was useful for the industry. It’s a really important issue that we’re facing- and we need to collaborate for the sake of whole industry. There was some great legal expertise and it’s an area people feel passionate bout. We’re an ideas industry and we need to learn to protect those ideas- it’s no easy task."

Security updates

Amy Grundy, project manager at Team Spirit

"For me the event security session was really useful and good food for thought . It’s something we’re not addressing as much as we should be. I think it’s a concern for agencies as well as clients and it’s not just about keeping delegates safe, but also keeping your staff safe. Everyone has risk assessment processes in place, but if it came to it- what would you do in the event of a terrible situation?"
