BCD Meetings & Events has taken over events agency Zibrant, a deal that will include all 130 of the agency's staff.

BCD M&E will welcome Zibrant's 130-strong UK workforce, including its senior team to add "significant talent to its growing EMEA team".

Marc Lammens, BCD M&E managing director, EMEA, said: "Zibrant has a strong brand, reputation and service values, which align perfectly with BCD Meetings & Events. With our combined expertise and services, we realised our organisations are better together than apart — as an employer, service provider and partner."

Nigel Cooper, who will now take on the role of managing director of BCD UK M&E and Zibrant, added: "Improving and growing our existing services have always been our core strategy so we are delighted to introduce BCD M&E’s global reach and additional suite of services to our customers. The access to BCD M&E’s presence in more than 40 countries gives us the ability to meet our customers’ needs of global meetings management."

Zibrant managing director Fay Sharpe told C&IT that this is a great step forward for the agency at a very exciting time. "This is a very positive move and we’re really delighted. BCD M&E is a great fit for us and I think that us being able to work globally and having a global partner is going to be brilliant.

"We now need to work with BCD M&E's team in maidenhead and make sure we maximise our strengths and work together. One of our plans was always to havea global platform and to develop our business and this is what we wanted to do."

Scott Graf, BCD M&E Global President, said: "This is the latest in a line of smart, strategic acquisitions for us to grow our global presences and service offering. Zibrant brings size, scale and expertise to our UK presence, allowing us to better compete in a strong events market."

In September 2014 Cooper bought Zibrant for £2.9m as former parent company Motivcom was taken over by Sodexo for £41m. At the end of last year, Zibrant managing director Fay Sharpe took a 10% stake in the business.
