EDITION hotel to open in Barcelona

The decor, reflecting Barcelona’s Catalonian and Mediterranean roots, is by interior designer and antiques expert Lorenzo Castillo, who previously worked on Room Mate hotels in New York and Florence.

The chain, founded by former Olympian equestrian Enrique ‘Kike’ Sarasola in Spain in 2005, will open Room Mate Gerard and Room Mate Xavi in Barcelona in 2017, two of eight openings planned for this year and next in cities including Rotterdam, Florence, Rome, Paris and Madrid. This will allow the company to grow its reach to a total of more than 4,000 rooms.

It currently operates approximately 1,500 rooms across 23 properties in six international markets.
