The three-year £40million fund is designed to ensure that England stays competitive in the global tourism industry. Acting on behalf of the meetings and events industry, Sharpe will play a role in allocating the £40million fund, focussing on helping organisations involved in business tourism and events.

"England’s meetings and events industry has so much to offer and I really encourage people to get their bids in now," she said.  "The funding will not only support the domestic market, but also persuade overseas event bookers to look further afield and explore different regions of the UK. I look forward to working with the team at Visit Britain to develop ideas and can’t wait to offer my experience and expertise."
