Global membership network Procurement Leaders wanted to find a new venue to host its flagship London event. Venue placement agency pro-ven was charged with finding a space that offered a core area for presentations and exhibits, flexible breakout spaces, good transport links and spacious overnight accommodation for delegates. Pro-ven introduced Procurement Leaders to the InterContinental London – The O2 in January 2015, taking event organisers on a hard-hat tour whilst the hotel was still in development.
The two-day congress took over the entire 4,500sqm conference centre, including 1,650sqm of pre-function rooms and as many as 13 meeting rooms. Around 650 senior procurement executives from the world’s most influential corporations gathered to engage with thought-leaders and procurement innovators at the forefront of their field. It featured cutting-edge content and real life success stories from over 80 inspiring speakers including Peter Carlsson, former CPO of TESLA Motors, and Eliza Manningham-Buller, former head of MI5, as well as a range of educational sessions and networking opportunities. It was rounded-off with the World Procurement Awards gala celebration for 1,000 guests in the Arora Ballroom.
Chiara Bortoli, senior event manager at Procurement Leaders, said: "The feedback from delegates has been extremely positive. Not only is the venue beautiful, in a great location with magnificent views, but logistically it worked really well to support the flow of the event. There was plenty of space for delegates to seamlessly transition from the main event to the breakout sessions, and the staff at the venue were more than accommodating to both delegates and organisers."
