The Appointment Group aims for 15% growth in turnover for 2016

Agency The Appointment Group is aiming for a 15% rise in events turnover in 2016 after growing its client base in the north of England.

The Appointment Group recorded a UK events-based turnover of £8m in 2015, but plans to grow this in 2016 by expanding its Manchester office and targeting new clients in the north of England.

"When we look at our client base it’s very south-centric, so we want to increase and develop new clients in the north," said Sam Robson, group events director at The Appointment Group.

"We really do well at repeat business, so I think the challenge for us now is to start pitching for new clients, getting on procurement lists and building relationships. Up to now, we haven’t had a specific business development director in the events division, but that’s something that’s going to change as we’re currently actively recruiting for this role."

Robson also told C&IT that the agency has had a good start to the year, with growth in the travel and logistics side of the business as well as in events.
