Gruchy was up against Michelle Mainwaring, marketing and PR manager at Vivid Event Group, Nichola Pergande, events director at Church Street Events and Andrew Gilkerson, client and procurement director at WRG, in the cook off, which was filmed in a professional kitchen in March.
Hotel head chef Riad Ziadi demonstrated a popular Brown's dish - Roast Newlyn Monkfish on the Bone with Hannan's Guanciale - and tasked the contestants with creating their own version.
Gruchy’s creation was pan-fried scallops with a fresh herb sauce and deep-fried Guanciale, which Ziadi praised and said was a "lovely dish".
And after votes cast by around 250 C&IT readers, Gruchy was crowned the worthy winner with 41% of the vote, and will get to experience dinner for two and a night at Brown’s Hotel, London, A Rocco Forte Hotel.
Meanwhile, Rachel Riding-Felce, creative development manager at Zibrant, has been randomly selected from our voters as the lucky winner of afternoon tea for two at Brown’s Hotel.• For more breaking news and in-depth features, sign up to C&IT Magazine's daily Newstracker here
