Hotel head chef Riad Ziadi demonstrated a popular Brown's dish - Roast Newlyn Monkfish on the Bone with Hannan's Guanciale - and tasked the contestants with creating their own version.

Gruchy’s creation was pan-fried scallops with a fresh herb sauce and deep-fried Guanciale, which Ziadi praised and said was a "lovely dish".

And after votes cast by around 250 C&IT readers, Gruchy was crowned the worthy winner with 41% of the vote, and will get to experience dinner for two and a night at Brown’s Hotel, London, A Rocco Forte Hotel.

Meanwhile, Rachel Riding-Felce, creative development manager at Zibrant, has been randomly selected from our voters as the lucky winner of afternoon tea for two at Brown’s Hotel.
