The castle will see a major transformation that includes the development of the Throne Room, Drawing Room and Staircase Hall to provide more updated facilities for meetings and events.

The venue is also being revamped to make it more accessible for all guests, with work expected to be completed in 2019.

Hillsborough Castle already offers a range of versatile spaces to accommodate events, from small meetings to large conferences of up to 130 delegates in the Throne Room. The Castle also hosts corporate away days, with the entire ground floor available to hire exclusively for large events for up to 400 guests. The 96 acre gardens are also able to accommodate corporate activities, festivals or concerts.

Debbie McCamphill, visitor and events manager at Hillsborough Castle, said: "We are excited to see our major project at Hillsborough Castle take shape over the next few years. Works are already underway in both the castle and gardens, with the major project building works due to be completed in 2019. In the interim, the castle is open for private hire with conferences and events continuing to take place within the fantastic historic setting."
