City officials have given the project the green light, according to a report in the Aftenposten newspaper. Proposals aim to add 283 new rooms to the property as part of a new wing.
This will span 16 floors and in addition, the project includes raising the existing nine-storey building of the hotel by three floors. The report states that the hotel would offer 815 rooms, more than the nearby Radisson Plaza that today ranks as Norway’s largest with 676 rooms. Conference facilities will also be available and potential investors quoted in the report said that the aim is to create 'an international conference hotel in the middle of Oslo'.
The property is part of Nordic Choice Hotels.
