Discount store chain Home Bargains hosted a night of '80s-themed parties on 3 January with the help of JD Parties.

Staff from more than 370 stores were invited to events, held simultaneously at ten venues including Cheshire's Tatton Park, Liverpool's Aintree Racecourse, and Birmingham's ICC. In all, 4,160 celebrated at three sports stadiums, two Hilton hotels, two conference venues, one museum, one equestrian centre and one marquee.

Each party followed the same format: a welcome drink, followed by a three-course meal and an '80s disco complete with glow sticks and classic '80s anthems. Guests were encouraged to dress up to embrace the theme, resulting in creations including Beetlejuice, the Honey Monster and Smurfs.
