Which events does your annual programme include?
Aside from our annual conference, which takes place in Yorkshire, our other main event is an annual briefing in London for about 100 external delegates. This always presents a challenge of finding a different venue in the City of London area that our guests haven't been to before, which I really enjoy.
What do you look for when planning an event?
We like to find a venue that pulls people in, offers something different or quirky, and that is easily accessible. In 2014, I used a South African restaurant that served traditional South African food. Our delegates had a tour of the wine cellars, as well as taking part in wine-tasting games.
Have you done more or fewer events in 2015?
We've actually done the same this year, but I think we may increase the number we do next year, especially in London. The main reason is that we have more to say to more people, and being a Yorkshire based-business, holding events in central London is a great way for us to stay in touch with key stakeholders.
What have been your biggest challenges this year?
Finding venues and creating a format that meets the needs of our guests who, for the main part, are either journalists or city financial traders. Time is a commodity they don't have a great deal of. So it's a challenge to make sure our events are thought through with this in mind and we plan everything accordingly.
Which event are you most proud of?
Last November we held a media event exploring the DNA of retirement at the home of the Chelsea pensioners. With this theme we staged the event to look like a school science lab, and even served up molecular drinks and liquid nitrogen deserts.
